"Shoot the Boer" and Bonehead Hypocrisy

We noted yesterday that the big "Occupy South African Embassies" protest in Toronto was sort of a bust. However Paulie, needing to polish yet another turd, begs to differ:Yes, that's right. Close to three dozen.Uhm.....We have other photos as well. In no photo is there a number that even approached 36 people. Really, it's a good thing Paulie taught English because his math consistently sucks. Then again South Africa is an issue that seems to result in Paulie becoming a little unhinged. He even forgets not to sound like a racist when discussing the country:When we posted our story yesterday, we weren't surprised that some of the usual suspects decided to offer their $0.02. Like a broken record, we were accused of being "anti-white" and of supporting genocide. Really, one would think they would come up with something original. Then one did.

Another Bonehead Protest Goes Bust

Ever hear of the Renaissance Party of North America? No? Not a surprise. It's yet another fringe white supremacist group with intellectual pretensions. The following are excerpts from their mission statement:We do not call for the overthrow of the American and Canadian governments. We do call for the perception and recognition of the innate and entropic collapse of these states. We encounter an inverted and fractured Manifest Destiny. Globalization is dead; it has encountered the maximum perimeter of energy utilization. The collateral of cheap and abundant energy resources to kick-start the Globalist economy is no longer. We enter an historical era of socio-economic collapse, implosion, fragmentation and devolution. Ethno-racial demographics will be called upon to identify, carve out and, preferably to negotiate, new homelands and polities. If one drop of blood can be spared, the effort at negotiated geographical re-inventions is justified....We call for an abrupt end to Globalist-endorsed mass immigration from non-Occidental countries to North America with the quest for cheap labour, the offsetting of the White European birth rate, and the political displacement of the White European demographic. We are in full and unconditional solidarity with our White European brothers and sisters to halt and reverse the Islamization of the European Continent and Great Britain. We endorse unconditionally on our shores the elimination of the anti-Occidental, state-sanctioned and traitorous ideologies of institutionalized, legally enshrined and enforced Political Correctness, Multiculturalism and Feminism....We acknowledge as true that history is not linear, that it is cyclical. We own unconditionally the spiritual and moral responsibilities that are bestowed upon a Warrior-Amazon political elite to assertively, yet humbly, agitate and educate with clarity, integrity and common sense. We offer a new perception of social, cultural and economic phenomena. This is a great challenge and an even greater calling. At all times, each RV member should take into consideration: I am responsible.Yeah. They sound like they would be fun guests at a party. In any case, the leadership of the Renaissance Party of North America decided yesterday they would make themselves known as a force in Canadian politics by staging a massive protest outside the South African consulate in Toronto while referring to their event as "Occupy South African Embassies." One might wonder why then they did not protest at the actual embassy in Ottawa given the name they chose for it, but who are we to judge? They created a Facebook group to promote the event and invited hundreds of people:Read more »

Announcements for resist services users

Hi,
If you have a website or a e-mail domain hosted on our server, this email announces two important operations on our hosting service. For other, it announces some downtimes. There will be a reminder set a bit in advance to remind you of those changes.

If you do not understand any parts of this email, contact help@resist.ca and we will answer your questions. Understand that failure to act upon this email may result in total or partial service outage.
Operational summary
The first operation is the transfer of our transit provider. The objective is to cut operating costs. This operation will be performed before Sunday June 23rd, at which date, if you have services running on our machines that are using a domain name not hosted by us, you will have to change:

The IP addresses of one of our nameserver (72.15.150.101), if you used those anywhere in your domain name configuration.
The IP addresses of our servers (usually 72.15.150.98, 72.15.150.100 or 72.15.150.101 if you're hosting mail onto our servers), if you used those anywhere in your configuration.

Remapping of public IPs, and timeline

First off, the IP addresses of the physical and virtual servers hosted with Resist will be changed on June 23rd 2013 7 PST. During the weekend, short outages of different servers are possible, up to two hours per server.

The list of current and new IP addresses is at the bottom of this email.

First wave

web.resist.ca: will move from 72.15.150.98 to 199.58.80.148 by June 23rd 7PM PST. It will still be accessible via 72.15.150.98 until July 15th.
drupal.resist.ca: will move from 72.15.150.100 to 199.58.80.140 by June 23rd 7PM PST. It will still be accessible via 72.15.150.100 until July 15th.
shell.resist.ca: will move from 72.15.150.102 to 199.58.80.142 by June 23rd 7PM PST. It will still be accessible via 72.15.150.98 until July 15th.

Second wave

lists.resist.ca: will move from 72.15.150.104 to 199.58.80.144 on June 13th 7PM PST. It will still be accessible via 72.15.150.98 until July 15th.
mail.resist.ca: will move from 72.15.150.102 to 199.58.80.142 on June 13th 7PM PST. It will still be accessible via 72.15.150.98 until July 15th.
smtp.resist.ca: will move from 72.15.150.99 to 199.58.80.139 on June 13th 7PM PST. It will still be accessible via 72.15.150.98 until July 15th.

Actions to take on your part

Those of you who registered their domain names on registrars for which Resist.ca is not the technical contact need to check their DNS entries to make sure they are not using resist.ca servers IPs. This operation must be performed between June 23rd from 7PM PST and June 28th. If the resist! collective is the technical contact for your domain, you do not have to take action here.
Those of you hosting their DNS on servers not managed by ip will need to change their "A" records to point to their new IP. This operation must be performed from June 23rd from 7PM PST, to June 28th.
We will maintain IP redirection service until June 28th to ensure that no one is left behind.

Operation technical details
The operation will be done in three (4) steps on our side:

June 22nd, 23rd. We transfer data over, and get the new server running. We'll be "freezing" content of each server for a short while, to get everything in sync, and then we'll just switch over. Expect downtimes of one to two hours for both web and drupal during that weekend.
June 23rd: the addresses 199.58.80.* will all officially routable in the rack. The current IP addresses stay functional. Migration of DNS "glue records" to use the IP. By the end of the day, ns2.resist.ca points to 199.58.80.100.
June 23rd: Modification of DNS "A" records to point to the new IP addresses (199.58.80.*). Traffic progressively switches to the new IP during the week.
July 13 and 14th: We transfer data over for mail, lists and smtp, and get the new server running. We'll be "freezing" content of each server for a short while, to get everything in sync, and then we'll just switch over. Expect downtimes of one to two hours for mail, and smtp on that weekend. We maintain redirection on the old IPs to make sure we can contact folks that didn't transfer the IPs over.
July 19th: we "officially" close operation at the Vancouver datacenter. We'll "technically" be getting the redirection gear somewhere along the 24th of July or something.

It is essential that by June 23rd you understand this process and that you engage into the reconfiguration of your domains if appropriate.

If the intervention should be delayed or take longer than expected, we will update the offline status page.

Don't hesitate to notify us of any issues at help@resist.ca

DaddyBloggers in the Spotlight: A Father’s Day Roundup

Writing about family life and parenthood is not simply the province of mothers: dads are carving out their own blogular niche. Single dads, stay-at-home dads, working dads, two-dad families — you can find every perspective on WordPress.com. As the US celebrates Father’s Day, here are some dad blogs we love:
DorkDaddy.com
What’s the point of having kids if you can’t raise them into die-hard Star Wars fans? DorkDaddy — dentist by day, geek by night, dad 24/7 — uses his blog to chronicle life with this three geeks-in-training.

You respond to his combination of candid takes on parenting with analysis of key issues (would Superman would be a better father than Batman?), and so do we. From whipping up Butterbeer for a sick dorkling to LEGO extravaganzas to building homemade hovercrafts, he takes us through the richness of parenthood with grace, humor, and, yes, a substantial measure of unabashed dorkiness. (We also love his frequent odes to the DorkMommy.)
The Urban Daddy
We’re clearly not the only fans of The Urban Daddy’s mix of “parenting, politics, and common sense” — you made him a finalist in both the Best Canadian Weblog and Best Family or Parenting Weblog categories of this year’s Bloggie Awards. Less a traditional “DaddyBlog” than a blog about life by someone who happens to be a dad, we appreciate the mix of hockey, health, political, and other news (professional wrestling, anyone?) — all served with a side of dad-perspective and cute kid stories.
Dadgitated
What happens when a “real man’s man” becomes a stay-at-home-dad? He gets a little dadgitated.
I fish, I hunt, I can shoe a horse, run a boat, change a tire on an eighteen wheeler, hold my booze, make moonshine, butcher livestock, lift heavy objects, use a smoker in a proper manner, chop wood and I’m pretty sure I could survive the up-coming zombie apocalypse. I’ve worked heavy construction. I’ve worked on the deck of big boats. I’ve fought with 2,000 lbs draft horses and won.
Now I’m a stay-at-home father… and I think it will be the end of me.
One of the wonderful things about blogs is how they connect us to people with similar experiences and passions; reading other bloggers’ perspectives can validate and enrich our own. Honest writing about parenthood on Dadgitated (how do you explain what a vagina is to your four-year old?) creates a space where parents can see and laugh at themselves — giving us the breathing room we need to be better parents.
Here are some other community favorites for your Father’s Day reading pleasure:

Snoozing on the Sofa follows older dad Scott as he navigates marriage and fatherhood, and learns that he can no longer have nice things.
UK-based Whiskey for Aftershave hits the dad trifecta — an older, stay-at-home dad of twins.
Touchline Dad is a sports lover raising three sporty children, and learning how to be a perfectly supportive sideline dad.
Twinfamy’s name says it all — one dad raising the “two greatest children to ever walk the earth, aside, of course, from Jesus Christ and Chuck Norris.”
The Dorky Daddy has no delusions of being “the cool dad,” and he’s not ashamed.

Do you have a favorite WordPress.com dad? Let us know!

Gaz de schiste : Frack off !

Paulie Won't Be Eating Cheerios For a While

We would like to present to you, our dear readers, a cereal commercial that has become infamous in certain circles. That's right. We wrote "infamous" and "cereal commercial" in the same sentence. Did you see it! Pure propaganda!Well, not really. Aside from the fact that this writer finds Cheerios unpalatable unless covered with sugar, thus sort of making any health benefits (dubious though the claims may be) moot, it's a innocuous advertisement featuring actors portraying an attractive, happy, family. The little girl is adorable. The man and woman look like they can be your neighbour. Really, only a diseased mind can find this commercially offensive.Ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce you to one of those diseased minds:There are no, "protests." Just a bunch of trolls online and a fewpeople calling for a boycott of Cheerios for the apparent slight.Yeah, we don't know if the oddity he's talking about is the couple or the child (or more than likely both), but wow, talk about an ego. Paulie really, truly, believes that this is a cog in the conspiracy to allow "da ethnics" to take over North America.Paulie isn't the only one trumpeting this non-issue issue. The Council of Conservative Citizens, of whom Paulie is a board member, have also chimed in:Read more »

Lemire Cries Uncle

We figure we'll go right to the source in this one:Marc Lemire throws in the towelIt was only a matter of time after the Supreme Court unanimously upheld civil law controls on hate speech as constitutional in the Whatcott case, but Marc Lemire has finally admitted that his parallel attack on the Canadian Human Rights Act prohibition on Internet hate-speech (s. 13) has been gutted (‘please ignore my legal arguments found at paragraphs 84-115 of my previous Federal Court of Appeal factum’).The background to this is that even before the SCC’s decision in Whatcott, Justice Mosley of the Federal Court reached the same conclusion in October 2012 and upheld both the finding that Marc Lemire had violated the Human Rights Act by posting online hate and that section 13 was constitutional as per the Supreme Court’s previous findings in their 1990 Taylor decision. Lemire’s appeal of that decision is ongoing and both Lemire and the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) filed supplementary legal briefs following the Whatcott decision.Mr. Lemire caves on the now legally (even more) entrenched facts that civil controls on hate speech are reasonable limits on freedom of expression, are justifiable in a free and democratic society, and are a pressing and substantial objective to avoid the serious damage caused as history has shown. Reading bumps on people’s heads to know what their intent was is still out. Hatred and contempt as narrowly defined by the Supreme Court in Taylor have been properly interpreted by human rights tribunals. What’s left? Not much. Weak arguments that the Tribunal was right and the Federal Court wrong that severance of the financial penalty provisions was the appropriate remedy to any concerns about them. This, despite the fact that the SCC in Whatcott specifically engages in severance of an obsolete and unused descriptive portion of the hate law to bring the Saskatchewan legislation into constitutional compliance (and modern parlance). Scrambling for a twig to latch onto after that but it’s clear the jig is up. Lemire’s factum is here. The Canadian Human Rights Commission’s factum in response is here. Lemire’s appeal was always frivolous and now following the unanimous Supreme Court decision in Whatcott, I believe it’s just vexatious. The shame is that by not seeking their costs against Lemire for continuing his appeal after the SCC has put the issue to bed, the CHRC is de facto enabling this waste of taxpayer money. All this, because Mr. Lemire wouldn’t mediate a settlement if a cease and desist order was on the table. In the end, I think it’s safe to say that despite sharing an interest in disseminating homophobic hate propaganda, Bill Whatcott is waaay off Marc Lemire’s Christmas card list. This one, for instance though, would be quite funny. Thanks Bill Whatcott for making this all happen. You sir are a superstar!Mr. Warman seems more whimsical than we are in his choice of "funky music."We're more inclined to gloat:
